ABOUT THE ARTIST
Cosimo Gottschall is an artist whose journey is defined by a profound connection to nature and a relentless curiosity for the world’s cultural diversity. Although originally trained as an industrial engineer, Cosimo chose to follow his passion for art, a decision that has led him to explore various artistic mediums and immerse himself in the cultural richness of different landscapes.
Cosimo’s work is deeply influenced by his extensive travels, including a year in the rugged landscapes of Fuerteventura, six months in the vibrant markets of Morocco, and most recently, two and a half months in Japan. These experiences have not only broadened his artistic perspective but also infused his work with a global narrative that speaks to the intersection of tradition and modernity.
His artistic process is characterized by an en plein air approach, where he draws inspiration directly from the natural world. Whether working from his mobile studio—a T4 camper van—by the sea or in the heart of a foreign landscape, Cosimo captures the essence of his surroundings, blending the organic with the cultural. His art reflects his love for the sea, his respect for traditional craftsmanship, and his commitment to exploring the interplay between humanity and nature.
As an artist, Cosimo Gottschall seeks to create works that are not just visual representations but are also deeply rooted in the cultural and natural elements that inspire him. His recent work, influenced by Japanese aesthetics and philosophies, embodies this approach, offering a fresh perspective on how art can bridge cultures and connect us all to the natural world.
